Older Android Versions to Continue using WhatsApp till 2020
If you recall, back in February last year, WhatsApp said they'll stop supporting Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 (and some other, non-Android platforms) by the end of 2016. But a quick look at the same source now reveals users will be able to use Whatsapp on "Android versions 2.3.7 and older" till February 1, 2020.
If you still operate an Android version of 2.0 downwards, you will keep using Whatsapp until the said deadline; but wait, there's more, the company also added that you may not be able to enjoy all latest and greatest WhatsApp features because they no longer actively release new versions of Whatsapp for these phones.
SO, WHAT'S NEXT?
Well to summarize it all what you need to do is to get a better android phone that operates version 4.0 Or 5.0 to continue enjoying this feature of whatsapp.
So you actually got about 2years to save and get a better phone
